ADI Grade 900 -- austempered ductile iron. Rm>=900 MPa, A>=8%. Strength of steel at 10% lower density and 10-15% lower cost. For automotive ring gears, track links and crankshafts replacing forged steel.
EN-GJS-900-8 (ADI Grade 900) per EN 1564. Austempered ductile iron produced by austenitising then austempering at 280-400 C -- creating ausferrite microstructure with Rm 900 MPa and A=8%. Density 7.1 vs 7.85 g/cm3 for steel. Standard for automotive final drive ring gears, large truck crankshafts, construction equipment track links and sprockets as a cost-effective steel alternative.
