Blackheart Malleable Cast Iron — annealed white iron giving temper carbon rosettes. Good ductility (A>=10%) and machinability. For pipe fittings, automotive brake hardware and thin-wall agricultural castings.
EN-GJMB-350-10 (Blackheart Malleable) per EN 1562. White iron cast then annealed at 950 C (decomposing Fe3C to temper carbon) — giving ductile iron with flake-free graphite. Excellent machinability (better than GJS). Produced in sections up to 25 mm. Standard for malleable pipe fittings (galvanised and black — the classic application), automotive brake brackets, thin-wall agricultural equipment and bicycle chain sprockets.
