Description

CuNi30Mn1Fe (CW354H / C71500) per EN 12451. Ni (29-33%) gives markedly better seawater corrosion resistance, higher strength and better resistance to high-velocity erosion-corrosion than 90/10 CuNi -- suitable for flow velocities up to 4-4.5 m/s versus 2.5-3 m/s for 90/10. Standard for offshore platform firewater ring mains, naval vessel seawater piping, and the most demanding desalination and power plant condenser applications.

Applications
Offshore Firewater
Offshore platform firewater ring main piping -- the most demanding standard CuNi application.
Naval Piping
Warship and naval auxiliary vessel seawater piping systems.
Power Plant Condensers
Condenser and heat exchanger tubing for the most aggressive seawater cooling duty.
Desalination
High-velocity seawater intake and brine piping in desalination plants.
Technical Notes
70/30 vs 90/10 CuNi
90/10 CuNi (CuNi10Fe1Mn): adequate to 2.5-3 m/s flow velocity, lower cost, most common marine piping grade. 70/30 CuNi (CuNi30Mn1Fe): to 4-4.5 m/s, higher strength, better erosion-corrosion resistance, ~40% higher cost due to Ni content. Specify 70/30 for high-velocity sections (pump discharge, firewater ring mains) and 90/10 for the bulk of general seawater piping runs.
