L6 — oil-hardening Ni-Cr shock-resistant tool steel. HRC 55-60. Outstanding toughness for impact applications. For cold chisels, pneumatic tools, shear blades and tools subject to heavy shock loading.
75NiCr (EN 1.2713 / AISI L6) per EN ISO 4957. Ni (1.5-1.8%) + Cr (0.6-0.9%) addition to 0.7% C base gives exceptional toughness combined with HRC 55-60. Oil hardening (less distortion than W1 water hardening). THE standard material for heavy-duty cold chisels and pneumatic tools where W1 and O1 are too brittle. Also used for cold shear blades, coining dies and die inserts requiring shock resistance over wear resistance.
